Professional Sales Student at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette
RESUME? HOW ABOUT A STORY.
After graduating high school in 2016, I took a semester off to save some money for college. This put me a semester behind my friends- which I was not a fan of. So in the spring of 2017, I started my college career at South Louisiana Community College. I worked diligently, and after a year and a half of hard work I graduated with my Associates in General Business and transferred to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the fall of 2018, in line with my friends and that is where I am today.
I started my employment at a small, family owned pizza restaurant called Sicily's in Broussard, LA during my high-school years. There I learned the value of hard work, teamwork, and how hard work eventually pays off as I took on more responsibilities and earned higher pay fairly quickly.
After graduating high school, I started working with my father who owns his own company, LeJeune Construction Services, and there I learned what it means to wake up early and work a long, physically demanding day, as well as the patience that goes along with the nature of the work.
I then started college, but throughout the past few months I had been growing my own start-up business, The LeJeune Boys, which focused primarily on small labor jobs with a focus on painting. I spent many days marketing my business, and did all the labor myself with the help of my brothers at times. I learned the pain of rejection, but also the joy of success and how overcoming adversity is worth it, even though it is hard to do.
This allowed me to pursue other passions of mine, the biggest being helping coach my old high-school's football team. The joy of helping teach those younger than me, and the humility I gained from watching them succeed is a memory I cherish greatly.
After many months of maintaining my business religiously, however, I decided that it was time to turn my focus to a job that would provide me with a steady cash flow, as I had many expenses to pay for. This led me to Saltgrass Steakhouse where I would work as a server for the next two years roughly. There I learned how invaluable customer service is, how important teamwork and communication are, and how to effectively communicate and approach customers in a open way.
This experience led me to landing my first internship with Enterprise Rent-a-Car, where I got a taste of what the real business world is like as well as a concrete understanding of sales. I learned that running a business is not a one-man job, and that a successful salesperson must first build a foundation of trust with their client.
After the internship ended, I was hungry to gain more concrete experience. I had to make the tough decision to forego a job, live off of savings and join organizations on campus to strengthen my profile and gain more foundational experience. This led me to the U.L. Sales Team, where I have been put in front of rooms of hundreds for presentations, performed real-life role play simulations and through this hard work, ended up placing in the Top 10 out of 160+ students at the International Collegiate Sales Competition that is comprised of 80+ schools internationally.
